'Undoubtedly, everyone has their own personal favourite products, items or foods that they love to use not to mention hearing recommendations from others about what's good and what's not. However, its important to remember; what works for one, doesn't always works for another....and bearing that in mind, here are my top 5 favourite items relating to nutritional health that I use on a daily basis.
1. 100% Cold Pressed Organic Coconut Oil
This is a 'god send' for me. I'm a strong believer in the following; if I can eat it and it's good for me on the inside then it should be good for me on the outside.
I've been using coconut oil for many years as my main source of cooking oil as well as being my daily moisturiser, hair and scalp pomade. Why 100% cold pressed and organic? Because I want it in its closest form to the original source as possible to reap the full benefits it has to offer. These benefits include having anti-viral, anti fungal and antibacterial properties as well as supporting/improving digestion, promoting healthy thyroid function plus containing MCT's which are fats that are metabolised differently and absorbed by the body faster, being less likely to be stored as fat whilst facilitating muscle development on a nutritional basis.....I love it.
Religiously, I drink a teaspoon mixed in water every morning, taken on an empty stomach. The benefits are amazing when it comes to the quest for a healthy digestive track, aiding the increase in a healthier immune system, reducing inflammation, assisting with training recovery, helps to heal any leaky gut issues not to mention encouraging healthy muscle growth and so much more. This is always in my artillery box when it comes to gut health.
3. Vitamin D
Despite the fact that I constantly crave the sunshine, we most definitely don't get as much sunshine in the UK as in other european regions, hence my vitamin D levels being slightly lower than average. This is another 'must' for me, aiding healthy bones, teeth, muscle tissue and the regulation of calcium.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar
Primarily, I use ACV for its abilities to help lower my blood sugar levels, hence keeping them stable, consistent and steady whilst consuming high carbohydrate foods. AVC helps me out, especially on my higher carb days when building muscle tissue requires more carbs in general and is a priority for me when training. However the benefits go far beyond that, such as helping to lower cholesterol, improve diabetes and to keep a healthy pH balance in the body to aid digestion.
5. Vitamin C
This is my ultimate vitamin of choice that I can honestly say, is greatly underestimated, overlooked and under appreciated for its amazing values. So many benefits to this mighty vitamin which includes aiding/speeding up recovery, helping to repair muscle tissue, being an aid to preventing colds and a powerful antioxidant with anti ageing properties. This is the no.1 vitamin that I take daily without fail.
